The call · as published 11:00 AM ET

Chicago won the first two games in Cleveland, then lost the next two at home by a combined 18–8, and now the whole series goes back to Progressive Field. Sean Burke pitched the middle of Game 2 there and allowed one hit in 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. Gavin Williams struck out 11 in that same game but needed 98 pitches to get through five. Burke had a 3.34 ERA in the regular season; Williams had a 3.76 with 248 strikeouts. At +118 the break-even is about 45.9%, so the price only asks Chicago to win slightly less than half the time. White Sox at plus-one-eighteen — that's the brick.

Chicago White Sox moneyline, White Sox at Guardians, ALDS Game 5, Saturday, October 10 at Progressive Field (8:00 ET). Posted +118. The series is tied 2–2.

Breaks if Williams turns the strikeouts into length this time, Cleveland's lineup that scored nine runs in each of the last two games keeps hitting at home, and Burke, who has not started a game this series, cannot hold it long enough.

Recap

Steven Kwan led off the fourth with a single, and José Ramírez lined a home run into the right-field seats. That was all the scoring. Guardians 2, White Sox 0, so White Sox ML at +118 loses, and Cleveland takes the Division Series 3–2. Sean Burke did his part. He went five innings, allowed four hits, walked nobody, and the one damaging swing against him left the park. Sean Newcomb and Grant Taylor kept it at two the rest of the way. Chicago never got close to answering. Gavin Williams struck out 12 in 5⅔ innings and allowed one hit. Erik Sabrowski, Hunter Gaddis, and Cade Smith finished it, and the White Sox ended with three hits and 21 strikeouts. The case leaned on the price, not on Chicago's bats, and a lineup that struck out 21 times left no room to answer one two-run swing. House 23–21.
