Tough beat. We went to Wrigley on Henderson and a soft price, and the brick crumbled 2–1. Pete Crow-Armstrong (Cubs CF) took Henderson out in the third for his 39th, and Carson Kelly scored in front of it. That was the game. Andrew Vaughn (Brewers 1B) answered with his 6th in the fourth, and that was Milwaukee’s night. Logan Henderson (Brewers RHP) went seven, two earned, seven strikeouts — not a blow-up. Kevin Gausman (Cubs RHP) went seven, one earned, nine strikeouts, and got the win. The edge we wanted over Gausman never showed. Soft −116 did not save the side. What we were fading showed up: Gausman missing bats, a Cubs bat going deep. Rain never arrived. Partly cloudy, 81, wind coming in from right — at Wrigley that usually kills fly balls, and it still wasn’t enough for us. We’re even again. We’ll get the next one.
