After a walk and a wild pitch by Erik Sabrowski in the sixth, Braden Montgomery doubled home two, Chase Meidroth singled him in, and Chicago held. White Sox 4, Guardians 3, so White Sox ML at +128 cashes. The first inning looked like the fade. Anthony Kay got one out, then Sean Newcomb intentionally walked Jo Adell to load the bases and made a throwing error on Nathaniel Lowe's ball, and two Guardians runs scored. Munetaka Murakami's fourth-inning single cut the deficit to one off Gavin Williams, who threw five innings with 11 strikeouts and two runs. Newcomb, Sean Burke and Grant Taylor allowed three hits over eight and two-thirds. Burke went five and a third with six strikeouts for the win, and Taylor gave up Jo Adell's eighth-inning triple, which made it a one-run game, then got the last four outs. A plus-money road underdog that survives its own first-inning mess and takes the lead in the sixth does not need a clean start — it needs the bullpen after. House 22–18.
