Recap, Sep 6, 2026
Tough beat. Rays 6–8 at Globe Life, and the ticket crumbled early. Ian Seymour (Rays LHP) lasted three — three earned, five hits, two homers. MacKenzie Gore (Rangers LHP) was worse on the line (three innings, five earned, seven hits, three walks), but Texas’s bats and the middle innings carried the home side anyway. Jake Burger (Rangers 1B/DH) went deep twice (24th and 25th). Corey Seager (Rangers SS) added his 15th in the eighth. Trevor Williams got the win; Steven Matz took the loss; Jakob Junis got the save.
The thesis never got room. Better club, slight Seymour edge, soft −104 — the arm edge evaporated on contact, and the season shape didn’t show up in a three-inning mess. Short-start shootout, not a staff duel.
Fade risk that showed: the thin starter edge into an early exit, with Cleavinger already on the 15-day. Modest edges, not a blowout spot — we called it, then it showed. Hot night in Arlington under the roof; weather wasn’t the story.
Ends the two-game win streak. We’ll get them next time.
