Recap, Sep 7, 2026
Tough beat. Cardinals 4–5 at Oracle in eleven, and the ticket crumbled in extras. Michael McGreevy (Cardinals RHP) did the starter job — 6.2 innings, two earned. Logan Webb (Giants RHP) was sharper: six innings, one earned, eight strikeouts. St. Louis finally pushed ahead in the tenth, then the bullpen cracked — Riley O’Brien (Cardinals RHP) blew the save, George Soriano (Cardinals RHP) took the loss, and Shay Whitcomb (Giants 3B) singled home the walk-off in the eleventh.
The thesis never got a clean regulation win. We bought San Francisco’s IL holes (Chapman, Adames, Bader) at +114; over eleven innings that edge didn’t show. The bats still in the lineup carried them — Rafael Devers (Giants DH) and Bryce Eldridge (Giants 1B, three RBI) — plus home extras baseball. Alec Burleson (Cardinals 1B) went deep for his 22nd, and St. Louis stranded twelve.
Fade risk that showed: Webb was the better arm tonight, and a plus-money moneyline still has to finish a tight game. Cool night by the bay; weather wasn’t the story.
Two straight losses. We’ll get them next time.
