Recap, Sep 13, 2026

Angels 5, Nationals 6. Eleven runs. Over 9 cashes.

Washington's four-run eighth did the real work — Daylen Lile's triple, then knocks from Jorbit Vivas, Jacob Young, and Dylan Crews turned a 2–2 game into 6–4 before the Angels scratched one in the ninth and stopped at eleven. Moisés Ballesteros and Zach Neto had gone deep earlier to put Los Angeles up; it never held.

We bought two five-handles and a soft nine after a series that had already been printing. Grayson Rodriguez lasted 5.1 with two earned. Jake Irvin gave three over five. Neither shut it down. The bullpens finished what the starters left open.

The fade we named was Rodriguez's late-August zeros traveling. He was fine early — Angels led 2–0 through five — and the under still needed the late innings to stay quiet. They did not.

Yesterday's run line got buried 19–1. Today the total comes back. We'll take it.
