Tampa Bay won 3–1, and the Guardians ML at +112 loses. Parker Messick gave up no earned runs over five innings, with three strikeouts, and all three Tampa Bay runs were unearned. Freddy Peralta matched him and then some, six scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Cleveland's only run came in the seventh, when Chase DeLauter doubled to right to score Patrick Bailey and send Steven Kwan to third. Bryan Baker closed it for the save, and Cleveland left nine men on base. The lesson is about where this price came from: it was built on Messick keeping the game close, and he did.
